The Count is an unofficial seat predictor and results explorer for the 2026 New Zealand general election. It has no accounts and never asks for your name, email or other contact details.

What's stored in your browser

Your theme, the results tab you last used, the "show all" setting on the close-seat watchlist and any scenarios you save are kept in your own browser's storage. They never leave your device. Shared scenario links carry the scenario in the link itself.

Google Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which features are used (for example, which tabs people open). Google sets cookies to do this. Analytics is switched off if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal.

Advertising

The site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's My Ad Center, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Ads are never shown on election day while voting is open.
